Amare Beanie

The Amare Beanie is a very simplistic design, a twist on the basic ribbed beanie. Incorporating a mock cable ribbing, Amare Beanie is a very stretchy, dense beanie with a modern style. I hope you enjoy this pattern, Happy Making!

MATERIALS:

-           100-200 yards (92 - 183 meters) worsted weight yarn. Shown in Universal Yarns- Delux Tweed Worsted, Charcoal colorway.

-          Needles:

o   US 6 (4.0 mm) or size needed to obtain Gauge, 16” or longer cords.

-          Notions: - Tapestry Needle.

o    Stitch Markers.

o   Cable Needles.

PATTERN CHARACTERISTICS:

-          Cables.

-          Ribbing.

GAUGE:

-          20 sts / 24 rows per 4 inches   (10 cm) , on larger needles in stockinette stitch. (Gauge is not important, this hat is a beanie and meant to be loose)

SIZES:

-          Small: Fits between 18-20” head.

-          Medium: Fits between 20-24” head. (Sample knit in this size)

 - Large: Fits 24” or larger. (Meant to be a very slouchy beanie)

ABREVIATIONS:

k: Knit

k1tbl: Knit one stitch through the back loop

k2tog: Knit two stitches together

p: Purl

RT: K2tog leaving sts on needle, k first st, sl both sts from needle

CDD: Slip Two, Knit One, Pass Two Slipped Stitches Over (s2kp2)

PATTERN:

Cast On: 90 (100, 110) sts. Join to knit in the round, careful not to twist. Place Marker, slipping at the beginning of each round.

Round 1: * p1, k2, p1, k1tbl; repeat from * around.
Round 2: * p1, RT, p1, k1tbl; repeat from * around.
Round 3: * p1, k2, p1, k1tbl; repeat from * around.
Round 4: * p1, RT, p1, k1tbl; repeat from * around.

Repeat rounds 1-4, 12 times in total.

Next four rounds: *p1, k2, p1, k1tbl; repeat from * around.

Code Removed

DECREASE ROUNDS:

Round 1: * p1, k2tog, p1, k1tbl; repeat from * around. [72(80,88) sts]

Rounds 2-7: *p1, k1, p1, k1tbl; repeat from * around.

Round 8: *CDD, k1; repeat from * around.

Rounds 9-12: Knit around.

Round 13: *k1, k2tog; repeat from * around. If you have an extra stitch at the end of the round, knit it normally. [60(67,74) sts]

Round 14: knit.

Round 15: *k2tog; repeat from * around. If you have an extra stitch at the end of the round, knit it normally.  [12 (14, 15) sts]

Round 16: *k2tog; repeat from * around. If you have an extra stitch at the end of the round, knit it normally.  [6(7, 8) sts]
